The main character—a poacher—is no longer just a lone hunter chasing prey and artifacts. He becomes a figure whose decisions determine the fate of other people. The post-cataclysm world has fully descended into a brutal balance of power: mutants, anomalies, gangs, and the remnants of organized factions press in from all sides.
The hero discovers that old agreements no longer hold—temporary alliances collapse, and former allies easily turn into enemies. A real hunt begins for resources and safe territories, where a human being is often more dangerous than any mutant.
The book’s central theme is the price of survival. To protect his own and avoid being crushed, the poacher is forced to act more ruthlessly, take risks, and make choices after which it is impossible to remain “just a good person.” Every step makes him stronger—and at the same time drives him further away from who he once was.
