The Asian Development Bank (ADB)-Asian Institute of Management (AIM) Knowledge Hub for Trade and Investment, in cooperation with Asia Society Philippine Foundation and the Management Association of the Philippines featured the work of Dr. Jeffrey Williamson, Laird Bell Professor of Economics at Harvard University and former Chair of the Economics Department. Last March 8, 2011, Dr. Williamson conducted a lecture on "Ancient and Modern Inequality." This lecture answered the questions---"What happened to inequality in pre-industrial societies from Rome 14 to British India 1947?", "Were the industrial leaders in Western Europe less unequal that in Latin America or Asia?", and "Why did the First Global Century raise inequality in developing countries, but lower it in advanced economies?".
