We touch down in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the adventure starts immediately. From the moment we step off the plane at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, we’re hit with the sights, sounds, and smells of the city — and an instant craving for food. 🍜
Before we’ve even left the airport, we’re on the hunt for something to eat. But things take a turn when a taxi driver tries to overcharge us, giving us a quick reminder that travel’s never boring in this city. 😅
We finally make it to our place in Menteng, one of Jakarta’s most historic and laid-back neighbourhoods. Between wandering the streets, exploring the local Menteng Market, and searching for an old friend, with some sad news that takes us by surprise, the day unfolds in all the chaotic, charming ways only Jakarta can deliver.
Lunch is a plate of Betawi food, dinner is the country’s legendary Nasi Goreng, and somewhere between the two, Jakarta starts to feel strangely familiar…
