You can only be confident that you've built a minimum viable product (MVP) after you have actually built it and found traction. You cannot prove ahead of time that the product you've scoped out as an MVP is in fact an MVP. The reason is that you must know that the product you've scoped out will indeed be viable when built and that it was the minimal one needed to achieve traction.
There are several myths about MVPs that are harmful to your business. Especially so, when spouted by your investors. I cover some of them in this video.
