In February 2005, Solid Snake was forcibly recalled from retirement by his former commander, Roy Campbell. The Foxhound special forces unit was conducting a nuclear weapons test on Shadow Moses Island near Alaska. But the unit rebelled against the US government. They demanded the remains of the legendary mercenary Big Boss and threatened a nuclear strike within 24 hours if their demands weren't met. Snake was given two missions. First, he was to infiltrate the nuclear weapons depot and rescue DARPA chief Donald Anderson and ArmsTech head Kenneth Baker. Second, he was to stop the nuclear strike.
Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes, a collaboration between Konami and Silicon Knights, a Nintendo subsidiary, was released on the GameCube in 2004. Features include a full English dub, numerous new gameplay moves taken from Metal Gear Solid 2, improved graphics, and new, completely remastered cutscenes directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, best known for his cult classic Versus.
