🥾 *Great Glen Way | Part 1 – Silent Hiking & Wild Camping in Scotland*
In this silent hiking adventure, I begin the *79-mile Great Glen Way**, one of Scotland’s most spectacular long-distance trails, travelling from **Fort William to Inverness* through the heart of the Scottish Highlands.
No commentary. No distractions. Just **hiking, backpacking, wild camping and the natural sounds of Scotland**.
Starting in *Fort William beneath Ben Nevis**, the Great Glen Way follows the natural fault line of the Great Glen north towards Inverness, passing lochs, forests, mountains, historic sites and the magnificent **Caledonian Canal* along the way.
In *Part 1**, I leave Fort William behind and begin following the Caledonian Canal, passing **Neptune’s Staircase* before continuing deeper into the Great Glen with everything I need for the journey carried on my back.
As daylight fades, it's time to find somewhere to spend the night and experience another of my favourite parts of long-distance backpacking – **wild camping in Scotland**.
The journey then continues towards **Kytra Lock**, with another night under canvas beside one of Scotland's most famous waterways.
