Toucan Keyboard First Impressions
I’ve been daily driving the Glove80 for 1 year and 4 months, and I finally did the thing I kept telling myself I didn’t need to do. I bought a flat split keyboard. This is the Toucan by beekeeb, and the whole point of this video is simple. I have a theory about concave boards, hand position, and fatigue, and I want to test it with something that keeps my hands on the desk while still staying split.
In this video you’ll get close up shots of the Toucan, the layout, and the build. I talk about why I originally went all in on the Glove80, what felt amazing at first, and what started to feel off over time. I also go into switches, why I moved from heavier to lighter options, and how that changed things. If you ever wondered whether concavity is comfort or just another form of over engineering, you’ll relate to this one.
The other reason the Toucan caught my attention is the trackpad. I wanted a setup where I can move the cursor, scroll, and click without lifting my hand off the keyboard. I show the trackpad in action, including inverted scrolling like on macOS, plus the basics like dragging, selecting, and all the clicks. I’ll also cover how I’m setting it up for both a MacBook and a Windows work machine, and why the small screen for battery and Bluetooth profiles is more useful than I expected.
