Along with mammoths, saber-toothed cats have always been considered the most famous representatives of the megafauna - the large mammals of the Pleistocene era. Paleontologists have identified them as ancient animals, among which there were many species.
They were part of a predatory death machine, equipped with expressive saber-toothed teeth. The color of their fur was brown with spots. Saber-toothed tigers lived in North and South America about two and a half million years ago. These predators were strong and muscular, up to three meters long and with a short tail. Their weight varied between 55 and 400 kilograms, depending on the species, they rather resembled modern jaguars.
