Introducing Mila Fox || 2021
Awhile back, I collected some wilted flowers that were going to be discarded because I felt the sudden urge to use them as a prop in my next artistic video. I didn’t quite have a purpose for them yet, but I was utterly drawn to them. Then, as you might remember, I recorded a video in late November!

Since 2021 was swiftly approaching I decided to work with two themes: “changing perspective” and “changing the channel.” As you’ll see in this video, I use such inspirations both literally and abstractedly. While shooting, I also thought of the famous phrase “he loves me, he loves me not” (for I was surrounded by so many flowers!) However, instead of addressing a specific person through this language, I am personally addressing my past relationship with negative opinions. In years past, I tethered my worth to others’ judgments & now I sever it. Here, the flower petals symbolize negative entities & the transition blatantly represents the shift into a new mindset.

The music choices, pictorial tropes and style/stylistic choices are all nods to my exploration of identity & self-image.

For me, 2021 represents not only a New Year, but a new decade that I am lucky enough to (soon) embark on.
