Half-Life: Decay (PC Mod) - Single Player Let's Play 1
Can a co-op game be played as a single player game?
In 2001 when Gearbox Software ported Valve Software's Half-Life to the Playstation 2 they added an extra Co-op game called Decay. In 2008 a group of dedicated Half-Life fans produced a mod porting the game to the PC with the addition of online play and, via a special button for character switching, the ability to play the game in single player, but can a game intended for two players be played by one?

Half-Life is developed by Valve Software while the original Half-Life: Decay is developed by Gearbox Software. The PC port mod is by Hoaxer.
Update (17/02/2015): Since I've been getting a few comment on how to get this game to work I thought I would leave a bit of a note here on some thing with the mode.
1. If you are looking to play this with a Steam version of Half-Life 1 if the mod installed to the proper location then it should show up as just 'Decay' in your Steam Library. This is something that I suspect is a bit of a trip up point for some people as they expect to see it listed as 'Half-Life: Decay.' Otherwise you should be able to start the game using the -game command in every a shortcut, batch file, command line or Windows Run command. Just start the game with "hl.exe -game 'half-lifedecay'" on one of these things.
2. If you are like me and you don't have someone else to play the game with then you're going to want to make use of the character change button that allows you to switch between the two coop character. This is by default bound to G. If to bind another command to this button you'll loose they ability to switch characters. The command does not come up in the key configuration panel in settings, therefore in order to remap this command you have to ever go into config.cfg file in the half-lifedecay folder and add or change bind "{enter preferred key here}" "changeplayer" or use the command console in game enter the same line.
Beyond those two things I'm not sure if I can be of much help.
