mass airflow sensor calculates the oxygen flowing to your engine for the ideal air-to-fuel ratio. The mass airflow sensor helps to increase engine efficiency by doing so. Most cars use the hot wire principle when it comes to the airflow sensor.
The sensor is used to measure the air-mass flow in internal- combustion engines for precise adaption of the injected fuel quantity to the current power requirement, atmospheric pressure and air temperatures. The micromechanical sensor element is located in the flow duct of the plug-in sensor.
The airflow meter or HFM is the sensor that detects the temperature and volume of the air entering the engine. Other sensors in the intake also provide vital temperature and pressure data.
The sensor is heated up to a constant temperature of around 120 to 180 degrees, depending on the vehicle. The intake air flowing by cools the hot-film sensor. The heating current required to heat the sensor back up to the original temperature can then be used to determine the air mass taken in.
