Most of the time, dogs resemble a lion, when they have big flowing mane around their neck. Of course, no dog can be big as a lion, but some of have similar temperament traits, they are totally fearless, territorial and devoted.
It might surprise you, but sometimes it was very benefical for the breed to be lion like, especially if the dog was living in Tibet. It is because lion is one of the Buddhists symbol and everything lion like was very popular, so was lion like dogs.
