YouTube Comments: Manage Spam and YouTube Comments with Google+

With the new YouTube Comments from Google+ on YouTube now, managing Spam and the comments we get from our viewers has gotten a little harder.
It's not as easy as it was before when you could click on the link in the notification in your YouTube Inbox and deal with all your comments there.
Now there's going to be a lot more Spam on your YouTube videos because of the unlimited length of the comments as well as the ability to add links too.
But help is at hand to help you manage your YouTube Comments as well as Spam on your Videos and Channel.
1:17 If you're a small to medium channel, then you can set your Comments to Approved. You can set this in Channel Settings -- Defaults.
This makes sure that all your comments have to be approved first before they are visible on your channel.
If you are a very large channel, with 10's of thousands of comments every day, this ins't really a good option for you as managing comments will be a nightmare for you.
2:11 The second option is better for you, and that used the new Community functionality on your YouTube Channel, using Comment Settings.
2:22 This allows you to add pre-approved people or Circles whose comments appear automatically on your Channel when they post one.
2:47 You can also set a list of Banned users too. Their comments will go straight to the bin and never be shown on your Channel. This is great for those trolls who like to spread hate on Channels.
You can have Circles or individuals in there, just as you can with Approved users.
3:00 You can set up a Blacklist of words that you want to be held for review before they are viewable on your videos.
This can be swear words, or hate words, or racist words or anything you want.
These comments will be held for review until you approve them.
4:06 You can also set defaults for your videos and channel in the Default Settings area.
You can set it to:
Allow all comments
Hold all comments for review
Disable comments
and you can set them individually on the video or your Channel.
4:38 To Manage your comments, if you have a Google+ Profile Channel, then you can use your Gmail account to see your comments and be able to get to the video to reply to them easily.
4:44 You'll find your Google+ YouTube Comments emails under the Social tab, not the Primary tab as you have with normal emails.
4:56 Gmail collects all the emails from the one video and puts them all together. This makes it a lot easier when see who's commented on what video. Rather than an email for each comment, you get one per video and you can click through to approve and reply on that video.
6:00 If you have a Google+ Page instead of a Profile, then you'll need to use the bell that appears on the top right of every Google property, to see who's sending comments, etc. It's not the most efficient thing on the planet, but that's what you've got.
7:00 when you go to manage your comments, you will have a blue box appear on the page. If you don't have that blue box appear, then hover over the comment box and it will come up for you.
7:27 When you have comments for approval that blue box appears and you click Review comments. That brings you into the approval area. In there you'll see the comments that are to be reviewed and approved by you.
7:40 To approve your comments, just tick the box of the comment you want to approve.
If you have lots of them, then check the All box on the time and uncheck the ones you don't want to approve.
7:50 If you find a comment you don't want on your Channel, then you can delete it or flag it.
10:15 Once you sorted all your comments that you want, then you hit the Check button on the top to allow those videos on your Channel.
10:30 When the comments are on the video, you can then reply back to them as you want. To see the newest videos on top, select Newest first from the dropdown on the top and the newest videos will appear on top.
