ABOUT Max Payne
Two years after the events of the first game, Max Payne was reinstated as a detective with the NYPD. While investigating a series of murders carried out by a group of assassins known as the Cleaners, Max encounters Mona Sax, who was presumed dead at the end of the first game.
DEVELOPMENT
In Max Payne (2001), Max's face was that of game writer Sam Lake, while in Max Payne 2 (2003), Max's appearance was remodeled and based on professional actor Timothy Gibbs. James McCaffrey returned as the voice of Max. The game's plot was again written by Lake, who decided to write it as a Film noir love story, as he felt it suited Max's personality better. Lake hoped the story would open up new ones.
