Well, now we get to the really unplayables. How unplayable? Well, the following six characters neither have movesets of their own, nor can they easily be given a moveset.
Now, you can give these guys movesets, but for some reason it has something to do with Player 2’s slot. I don’t know why, but if you don’t modify player 2’s character and model values to be the moveset you want for the unplayable character, then it won’t work; it will simply glitch out. So, you need to find the character address and moveset address for both player 1 and player 2, then make the character address for player 1 the unplayable character you want, then put in the moveset you want for player 1, and the moveset value should be used for the moveset value for player 2’s addresses as well. Do this, and you can use movesets with the NPC characters. It’s pretty convoluted but, hey, at least it does work. It’s also why Kitana appears in the cutscene, so you’re aware. Although, both Best Girls taking down Shao Kahn together would be pretty badass.
I decided to use Kitana’s moveset for Sonya here, as it seemed fitting. Sonya was essentially shoved in the background for Kitana in MK2, shame as that was, and this game isn’t really much different in that regard. Weirdly though, it messes up a bit; she can’t do multiple dive kicks, and the projectile attack sees her throwing herself for some reason. How weird! I’m glad they even bothered to include Sonya’s model, because it barely shows up in the game. I couldn’t imagine Cynthia Rothrock getting captured in any of her films, just saying, especially with that goddamn roundhouse kick of hers. That said, you could probably try to do a playthrough as Sonya with someone else’s moveset but there wouldn’t be much point; it’s too much of an anomaly.
