In this video I show you how to easily download audio from Youtube directly into your DAW. I use Ableton, so I've used that in this example.
Steps:
1. Install brew from http://brew.sh. You may be asked to install XCode. It will install automatically. You need this.
2. Install youtube-dl by entering the following command into the terminal: brew install youtube-dl
3. Create a folder in your home directory by entering the following into the terminal: mkdir ~/YoutubeDownloads
4. Open Ableton, and add the new directory/folder you just created
5. In the terminal change into that directory by entering: cd ~/YoutubeDownloads
6. Enter the following command to download an mp3: youtube-dl --extract-audio --audio-format mp3 • Cal Tjader - Django
Note: Replace the Youtube link with whatever link you want to download. Also works for Soundcloud links :)
If you want to use the dl.sh script I created it can be downloaded from here (instructions included) ... https://gist.github.com/JamesTheHacke...
