AT WHAT AGE SHOULD CHILDREN LEARN TO FAST?

Alhamdulillah, we are once again greeted by a month full of goodness. A month that begins with compassion, ends with forgiveness, and ends with the assurance of freedom from the fires of hell.
Of course, as parents, we encourage our children to begin learning to experience the joys of this blessed month. A natural question arises: at what age should children learn to fast?
Typically, children begin fasting during Ramadan at age 7. This was explained by Pediatrician and Metabolic Nutrition Consultant Cut Nurul Hafifah.
This fasting period can be started for six hours. However, children as young as 4 or 5 can also be introduced to fasting. However, this is still an introduction. So, it doesn't have to be until Maghrib; it can even be broken before midday.
Some scholars refer to the hadith regarding teaching children to pray at age 7 and that punishment is permissible if they fail to pray by age 10. So, fasting can begin at age 7. However, scholars also note that fasting is more difficult than prayer, even though both are physical acts of worship.
Baarokallooh. Greetings, Smart Parents!
