How to align text to a spline in Cinema 4D
Let’s create a text object, align it to the middle, make it smaller by reducing height and depth and type our text (let it be CINEMA 4D in upper case).
Then, we create a Circle spline object, go to the Coordinates tab, and set the rotation pitch (R.P) to 90 degrees. Next, we add a Spline Wrap deformer and make it a child of the Text object. After that, we go to the Object tab of the Spline Wrap deformer and drag our Circle spline object into the Spline field.
To fix the mess we change the mode from Fit Spline to Keep Length, switch Axis from +X to -X, and adjust the Offset value.
Now our text can wrap around a curved surface of the cylinder.
Further, if we want our text to be placed on a flat surface, such as the circular base of a cylinder, we click on Circle spline object, go to the Coordinates tab, and set the rotation pitch (R.P) back to 0 degrees. Then we click on the Spline Wrap deformer, go to the Coordinates tab and set the rotation pitch (R.P) to -90 degrees. After that, we go to the Object tab of the Spline Wrap deformer and adjust the Offset value.
Now our text can be placed on the circular base of a cylinder.
