Description
The home of the classic sled dog breeds lies north of the so-called "dog equator." There, they have proven to be extremely resilient and robust—even under the harshest climatic conditions. This made them indispensable companions on early polar expeditions, carrying heavy loads over long distances. Having always lived in a group, they love being with their family. They should not be left alone, as they quickly become lonely. Despite their affectionate nature, they are not easy to train. Their independent spirit must be met with a great deal of understanding and respect for their character. These powerful, enthusiastic runners should, of course, be given ample physical exercise. However, pulling a sled is not a requirement. Leashing, however, is mandatory.
