In this lesson, we study the artistic Renaissance, a movement of cultural renewal linked to Humanism and the appreciation of humankind.

You will understand how Renaissance artists sought inspiration in Classical Antiquity, especially Greco-Roman culture, and developed new techniques to represent reality with greater depth, proportion, volume, and realism.

The lesson explains fundamental concepts such as perspective, chiaroscuro, oil painting, and patronage. We also compare medieval art with Renaissance art, showing how works such as Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper reveal a new way of representing space, bodies, and objects.

We also study important artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Jan van Eyck, as well as the role of patrons, such as bourgeois, nobles, members of the high clergy, popes, and influential families like the Medici.
