Lookout Google Glass—more details suggest Apple's wearable tech glasses are coming.
The tech giant has filed a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trade office, for a display with an increased resolution but not an increased number of pixels. In the filing, the company wrote:
"A portable heads-up display may be size and weight constrained such that addition of physical pixels may not be practical."
Translation: Apple is almost assuredly working on some kind of challenger to Google's smart glasses. This patent follows another recent filing from Apple for "Peripheral treatment for head-mounted displays."
Of course, the company is known for filing patents on products that never come to be, so having to wait in line at the Apple store for a set of these things is a long ways off. In the meantime, we'll all keep gobbling up the latest iPhone 5 rumors, and work on a naming scheme. Wait, never mind. They'll obviously be called ... iGlasses
