Are Digital Focus Scales Worth Anything?

I know a lot of you love tests, so here's one: how accurate are digital camera focus scales? The ones on some lenses, like Nikkor lenses, and on the screen, like on Fujifilm cameras?
Here, I run multiple tests at measured distances of seven feet and 30 feet, using three different focus techniques for each.
What are the results?
And more importantly, does it even matter if we're using these scales for their intended purpose?
