Hey guys! Back with another Solo Adventure. As I explain in my intro, (please forgive the covid induced brain fog as I struggle to form a coherent sentence... anyways) I would like to film more of these solo vlogs to give people ideas on things they can go do on their own. Sometimes it can be intimidating to go out alone, but places like this are a good way to ease yourself into it! Let me know if you'd like to see a video on other ways to have your own easy Solo Adventures : )
Now that's out of the way, let's talk about Hillwood! This unlocked another one of those suppressed and buried childhood memories of mine. It makes sense, my dad used to work for a association that focused entirely on plants. He'd bring me fresh figs from the tree outside his office when I was a kid as a bribe to leave camp haha. I think it's likely we went to places like Hillwood together.
The gardens are stunning, try and go when they are in peak bloom. The house.... my god the house. It's a museum. I saw Marie Antoinette's boudoir chair! Like... the queen's butt was in that chair. Blew my mind.
If you're in the DMV its worth the trip. Plus, you're already in the city which makes it a perfect stop before or after a boozy brunch imo. I could just imagine having a mimosa in one of those fabulous gardens.
