Last week at GTC, NVIDIA announced GPUs for space. Data centers in orbit. And at first glance, it makes perfect sense. Space is cold, servers overheat, so off they go into space. Sounds smart.
Except: Your thermos keeps your coffee hot BECAUSE it's in a vacuum. A vacuum doesn't conduct heat; it traps it. Same physics. And that's exactly what happens in space.
And yet: NVIDIA, Google, SpaceX, they all want to go into space at the same time. Either they're all stupid. Or cooling was never the real reason.
