We reached Coast Financial Independence at 35 with three young kids — and in this video, I’m sharing how we got here and what we’re choosing to do next as a family of five. Coast FIRE means that even if we never invest another dollar, our existing investments will grow enough over time to reach full financial independence. For us, that means work is becoming optional, but life with kids makes these decisions look a little different than what you usually see in the FIRE space.
Our goal with financial independence retiring early isn’t to stop working altogether — it’s to create a life where we can choose meaningful work, spend more time together as a family, and live with less pressure around money.
If you’re pursuing FIRE with kids, curious about Coast FI, or trying to build a more intentional life with your family, I hope this video is encouraging and helpful.
