If I had to start learning programming again in 2026, I'd ignore almost everything.
After 14 years as a software developer, leading development teams, and mentoring junior developers, I've realised that programming isn't the difficult part anymore - deciding what actually deserves your attention is.
In this video, I share the four things I'd focus on if I had to start over today, how I'd use AI without becoming dependent on it, why confidence comes from building (not watching tutorials), and how to avoid wasting years learning the wrong way.
If you're a beginner, self-taught developer, or career switcher, this is the advice I genuinely wish someone had given me when I started!
