Short Circuit Grounding Test
This is a crucial step after the construction of a new high-voltage substation, known as an artificial short circuit grounding test. Engineers use a launcher to shoot a grounded copper wire into the high-voltage power grid. The current causes a grounding short circuit and instantly vaporizes the copper wire. This test checks whether the line can automatically restore power after a transient fault.
