How to make a VOCAL AMBIENCE in Ableton!
In this tutorial I’ll show you how to create a Lush Vocal Ambience in Ableton, using Convolution and Hybrid Reverb!
A Convolution Reverb takes an input signal and processes it with the sound of an actual or virtual acoustic space (in this case, we’ll use a White Noise as a virtual space) to create the illusion that the input was recorded in that space. This will result in a washed out sound that will combine the texture of the vocal with the one of the white noise, resulting in a lush texture.
Here are the steps:
1. Grab a vocal you like and isolate a vowel
2. Activate warp and choose the Texture algorithm
3. Hold shift to stretch the clip and slow it down, for a grain effect
4. Load Hybrid Reverb on the track and set the Routing to Convolution
5. Now drag a white noise inside the plugin, and set DryWet to 100%
6. Freeze and flatten the track, and enjoy the result!
