The main idea of this project was to use the concept of Augmented Reality to visualize the invisible signal waves of devices (like transmitter, Arduino, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc) in the real-world. In the proposed project, we created a state of the art technology that integrates an indoor ray-tracing simulation code with an augmented reality device, such as Microsoft HoloLens.
The application enables the visualization and mapping of the signal strength of indoor wireless networks in a real environment and creates enhanced experience for the user. We developed a low latency, lightweight API to enable the interaction of the HoloLens AR Device with the MATLAB simulation tool.
These holograms will accurately present the information via 3D heat maps. In addition, the user will be able to change the position of the hologram Wi-Fi antenna and see in real-time the estimated signal strength in the indoor environment.
