Hi Hat Groove Lick Lesson - Free Drum Lesson by Dave Major
I love to Hi Hat licks that just sit in the groove. For this lesson, I'm taking inspiration from drummers like Jost Nickel, Steve Gadd and Ash Soan.
These guys use the hi-hat in such creative ways and especially the stepped hi-hat. The stepped hi-hat is such a cool sound to use in your playing and this groove chop is perfect for just that!
The lick itself is 32nd notes so is going to work really well in a slow half time track such as the one I'm playing in the intro.
