Home Assistant is one of the best and most actively developed open-source automation tools. It has built-in support for a huge range of smart devices and with the inclusion of third-party integrations its incredibly rare to find a device that can't be added to Home Assistant.

The Raspberry Pi is one of the best places to run Home Assistant thanks to it being a super low powered device. You can easily leave a Pi running 24/7 without having to stress about it adding huge amounts to your power bill. Additionally, if you utilize a UPS, you can a huge amount of run time from a single Pi.

On top of showing you how to install Home Assistant OS to your Raspberry Pi, we will also show you how to install HACS. HACS stands for Home Assistant Community Store and is one of the easiest ways to install additional integrations.
