Facing demolition of their facility, zoning challenges, and a lack of volunteers, a scrappy ministry startup is changing how the community interacts with the homeless.
Melany Jackson sold her home, SUV, and motorcycle and moved into a homeless complex, raising just enough money to begin a housing ministry for the most vulnerable homeless in the Champaign Urbana area.
Today, C-U at Home operates a drop-in center and several recovery homes, and hosts a highly visible annual fundraiser where people from the community spend the night in a cardboard box downtown to help raise operating funds.
The premiere showing of this documentary will be at the One Winter Night event headquarters, Christ Community Church on Friday, December 5 in downtown Champaign IL. First showing starts at 6 P.M., and additional showings will continue roughly every two hours throughout the night.
