Your first story this week is an interesting one, with the SDKs for the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro rumored to be in the works!
If you’re not sure what an SDK is, it’s alright!
SDK stands for Software Development Kit, and is used by third party apps, such as Pix4D Capture, Drone deploy, or Litchi to control and program drone movements.
DJI hasn’t released an SDK for a consumer drone since the Air 2S, in 2021.
This looks to change, potentially as soon as April of this year, however only for the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro.
DJI says they have no plans to release an SDK for the Mavic line (M3, M3 Classic, and M3 Cine) or the Avata, mostly because it would cannibalize the sales of their Mavic enterprise product line.
DJI also released the Mini 2 SE, which will start retailing in late March.
The drone has a 12 MP camera, 2.7K video, 31 minute flight time, and costs $369.
The drone will ship starting March 22nd.
While this isn’t a bad deal, we’d recommend just getting a Mini 2 for $449 and enjoying the 4K capabilities.
Your second story this week is Super Bowl incursions were down this year!
Last year there were 49 drone incursions on the Superbowl, this year there were only 30.
This is still 30 more than we’d like, but a decreasing trend is good.

I wanted to give a kudos to our friend Vic Moss from the DSPA and Scott Schtofman from AUVSI who testified with the Wyoming House Judiciary committee about a proposed bill that would not benefit drone pilots. Vic also brought up the comments from Senator Charlie Scott who said that “a good way to deal with annoying drones” was to shoot them. Vic answered several questions about confused members who thought drones couldn’t fly below 500 feet (quoting regulation for manned aircraft). Thank you both for representing the drone industry on those issues. If you ever wonder why it’s important to support non-for-profit organizations such as DSPA, this is a great example of the work they provide!
