Starting June 15, 2026, Anthropic is separating programmatic Claude usage (Claude -p, Agent SDK, GitHub Actions, and third-party apps built on the Agent SDK) from the Max plan and putting it behind a separate monthly credit, while interactive use of Claude Code, Claude.ai, and Claude Cowork stays under existing plan limits.
I walk through what is actually changing, why the messaging conflicts with the underlying restriction, and where I think capacity constraints are driving the decision.
