Number 40 of only 60 Roush Touring Coupes assembled, and one of only 13 founded on Ford’s brilliant Torch Red 2-stage, this polished Ford pony is a pampered specialty car that’s logged just 13,168 miles in roughly 11 years. Under the hood, Ford’s smooth 4.6 liter Mod Motor V8 utilizes a coated Roushcharger to spin a stout 435 horsepower into 400 lb./ft. of tire-turning torque. While Roush's Stage cars, P-51 and BlackJack all get stiff, track-ready Roush set-ups, the RTC retains Ford’s Mustang GT suspension with the exception of Roush progressive rate lowering springs. This affords softer on-road driving characteristics that, while still plenty sharp at the track, are much better suited for hours of two-lane bliss. Naturally, manually-selected cogs come courtesy of a Ford-supplied Tremec 5-speed. That box twists torque to a familiar 8.8-inch axle that’s stuffed with a limited-slip differential and spry, 3.55 gears. Turns come easy, thanks to power rack-and-pinion steering. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs. Spent gases are whisked away by an optional Roush exhaust system that, with the help of aftermarket converters, sounds downright predatory. And power meets the pavement through forged Roush blades. Between the doors, sporty leather buckets wrap predictable red stitching around suede, Roush-branded inserts. A monochromatic dash hangs Roush electroluminescent telemetry next to cool air conditioning and crisp Shaker 500 audio. An optional Roush Short-Throw Shifter surfs a clean console. The driver spins factory Cruise Control around a standard tilting column. And naturally, all the amenities you’ve come to expect in a modern classic are present and accounted for.
