In this video I examine Executive Producer and show runner of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, as well as co-creator of Deep Space Nine and Voyager Michael Piller, and how I believe he saved the Star Trek franchise from oblivion and made it great, with his policy of putting character stories first above all else. I give my opinion on how I believe he was the best thing to happen to Star Trek and was the heart and soul of what made the show good. Although he wasn't perfect and made decisions I disagreed with from time to time, his passion and writing instinct usually led to great writing, and not just for the episodes he was credited for as he guided other writers to their full potential as well. He hand picked other great writers who went own to become great Star Trek show runners like Ira Steven Behr and Jeri Taylor, and when he and they left that's when the franchise lost something and began to dwindle leading to it's temporary demise in 2005. So join me as I give my opinions on how Micheal Piller influenced Star Trek.
