THE REAL LORD OF THE FLIES | THE SIX TONGAN CASTAWAYS OF ATA ISLAND

In 2015 Spanish explorer Alvaro Cerezo marooned himself on Ata desert island with one of the six Tongan survivor kids, Kolo Fekitoa. He was also one of the last real castaways alive.

Ata Island is an uninhabited island located in the middle of the ocean near the remote archipelago of Tonga. Ata is one of the few real desert islands where human doesn’t get even close.

Sadly, Kolo was sick in in 2015 and his last wish was to return to the desert island that saved his life when he was a schoolboy. Kolo and Alvaro survived for 10 days, living exactly like they did back in 1965, as Kolo's last wish. They drank coconuts, eating seabirds, making fire with their own hands and sleeping in the exact same places. Sadly, Kolo Fekitoa passed away in 2017, two years after the his 10 days experience with us.

To prepare the experience, Alvaro Cerezo spent 6 months in Tonga, 3 of them taking care of Kolo at his house and getting ready for the challenging adventure. In the meantime , Alvaro listened from Kolo the whole story (the theory) and then later he put that info into practice on the island together.

Therefore, Alvaro Cerezo has written a book describing in detail the 15 month ordeal of the Tongan castaways and soon can be purchased in Amazon. Alvaro also met Peter Warner and Mano Totau in Australia.
Together with the book, Alvaro will launch a documentary this summer 2020.

Special thanks to Cheyenne Morrison for letting Alvaro know years ago about this remarkable castaway story!!!!

STORY:

An extrordinary story of human survival that reminds us of Real Lord of the Flies.

In 1965 six boys stole a 25 foot whaling boat and the first night at night lost the sails and rudder in a storm. They lost the little food they carried. And they had to survive adrift for days without water.
On the 8th day they saw an island at the distance. They were smashed against the rocks and swam to the beach. They had no idea where they were on that night.

The name of the island was ATA. One hundred nautical miles from Tonga. They had to survive for 15 months until they were discovered by chance. Fiften month later, an Australian fishing boat, the Just David, captained by Peter Waner, was looking for new crayfish grounds. They put down some traps without much success. To the crew surprise six naked boys screeming for attention swam straight to the boat and they told them the story
