The War Between Us ||| Prólogo
The War Between Us es un proyecto —parcialmente cancelado— que comenzó a desarrollarse a finales de 2021. Aunque no está terminado del todo, quise aprovechar este video para presentar un resumen general y algo condensado de la primera parte de la historia. Naturalmente, la novela Guerra Mundial Z inspiró este concepto, pero también tomé ideas de varios relatos cortos que encontré en internet, principalmente en YouTube. Decidí que debía crear mi propia historia. Si bien la trama puede parecerse al típico apocalipsis zombi de ficción que se encuentra en la mayoría de las historias del género, hay una diferencia: aquí, los zombis no son simplemente "muertos vivientes". No solo pueden propagar su virus a una velocidad aterradora —arrasando países enteros en cuestión de días u horas—, sino que la historia también intenta adoptar un enfoque especulativo sobre cómo se desarrollarían realmente los acontecimientos durante un apocalipsis zombi auténtico. Por cierto, no pretendo que esta historia sea una serie convencional ni un simple libro; la imagino como un audiolibro para la web. Tengo varios segmentos que me encantaría publicar ahora —como la Batalla de São Paulo, la lucha en Centroamérica, el ascenso de Islandia o una de mis favoritas, la Batalla por la Ciudad de México—, pero esos detalles tendrán que esperar. Mencioné la Ciudad de México específicamente porque es donde vivo; siento que puedo especular mejor sobre lo que sucedería allí durante un ataque zombi si la población hubiera sido advertida previamente. Si hubiera sido de Cholula, Chetumal, Buenos Aires o Managua, me habría centrado en esas ciudades y no habría incluido el segmento de la Ciudad de México en el video. En fin, solo quería aclarar eso. Espero verlos a todos de nuevo pronto.
The War Between Us is a project—partially cancelled—that began development in late 2021. Although it isn't fully finished, I wanted to use this video to present a somewhat condensed, high-level overview of the story's first part. Naturally, the novel World War Z inspired this concept, but I also drew ideas from various short stories found online—primarily on YouTube. I decided I had to create my own story. While the plot might seem like the typical fictional zombie apocalypse found in most stories of the genre, there is a difference: here, the zombies aren't just "undead." Not only can they spread their virus with terrifying speed—wiping out entire countries in a matter of days or hours—but the story also attempts to take a speculative approach to how events might actually unfold during a real zombie apocalypse. By the way, I don't intend for this story to be a standard series or just a book; I envision it as a web-based audiobook. I have several segments I’d love to release now—such as the Battle of São Paulo, the struggle in Central America, the rise of Iceland, or one of my favorites, the Battle for Mexico City—but those details will have to wait. I mentioned Mexico City specifically because it’s where I live; I feel I can best speculate on what would happen there during a zombie attack where the population has been forewarned. Had I been from Cholula, Chetumal, Buenos Aires, or Managua, I would have focused on those cities instead and wouldn't have included the Mexico City segment in the video. Anyway, I just wanted to clarify that. I hope to see you all again soon.
