THEY SPOILED OUR HIKING!
The Voronya Trail is a marked route near Monchegorsk to Mount Vurechuayvench (470 m) on the Kola Peninsula.
Despite its proximity to the road and the city, it feels wild here: there are no tourists in sight, just you and the mosquitoes.
The trail initially follows a forest road that turns into a trail. Further up, in the tundra zone, the beautiful landscapes begin. And from the summit, the beauty is 360 degrees: the Khibiny Mountains, Lake Imandra, the Monchetundra and Volchiye Tundra hills, plus a strong wind that literally blows you off your feet.
The Voronya Trail is an easy but beautiful climb, perfect for a weekend hike.
You can reach the start/finish point of the route from Monchegorsk by bus for just 40 rubles. The trail is 6 km long, and the walking portion took us about 3 hours.
