A previous video described how to get to and get around the MMNA Google Drive. In this video, I’ll show how to create documents and folders within the Drive, and how to upload existing documents from your computer.
I’m going to split my screen between the MMNA Google Drive and the File Manager on my PC, for convenience. I already have those windows active, so I’ll resize them so they are side-by-side…
I want to add information about insurance and incorporation to the Google Drive. There’s already an Insurance folder, so I’ll upload everything within the MMNA\Insurance folder on my PC…. Then we browse down to the subfolder for 2021 to see the documents associated with the MMNA liability insurance policy.
I upload the entire Incorporation folder at once, similarly… Then I navigate down to the Incorporation 2021 subfolder, and remove some subfolders that were used in the course of my work, but which serve no purpose in the common data store.
Next, we use another method for uploading a file. I go back up to the top level of the file folder structure, and select the New button in the upper left of the Drive window, then “upload file”. This brings up a file selection dialog. I see there’s a single Excel file on my PC that has some statistics about contributions over the years. I select that, press the Open button, and the file uploads to the current, top-level local. Where’s a good place to put it? I think Finances/Contributions… Right click on the file name, and select Move from the popup menu. Navigate down the path to Finances/Contributions, and complete the operation. Once it’s there, we can open it up within the drive by right-click, followed by Open With, and using the Google Sheets spreadsheet application. And close it by closing the browser tab.
In the next video, I’ll survey some of the other features available in Google Drive.
