Lehiri, like most Jedi Padawans, has been raised by the Jedi Order from birth. Thus, all he has ever known is the guiding structure of the Order, as well as its passionless discipline. He is very chivalrous in his duty and compassionate toward the weak. But he also has a bit of willfulness when it comes to standing against violence and the Dark Side. Having been only a Youngling when the Sith sacked Coruscant and destroyed the Jedi Temple at the end of the last Galactic War, he naturally has an extreme dislike and mistrust for anything associated with the Sith Empire and the Dark Side. When faced with a challenge, he is a bit more inclined toward action than contemplation. In addition, as he has grown older, despite the Jedi's strict prohibitions against emotions and attachments, he is perplexed by the Jedi's paradox of caring for the weak, but not being able to share that compassion more closely toward others and experience intimacy and love. Like so many young Jedi, he has trouble believing that loving someone will really lead toward the Dark Side. He believes that he can find a balance between dedication to the Light and attachment with others.
