Why "RAM Cleaners" Are Lying to You

You have been lied to.

Every "RAM cleaner" app in every app store is built on a misunderstanding that operating system engineers at Microsoft, Apple, and the entire Linux community spent years trying to fix. And yet here we are, in 2026, still seeing TikToks telling you to free up your memory like it's a moral failing to have it full.

In this video I explain what your RAM is actually doing when it looks "full," why Windows SysMain (formerly SuperFetch), macOS cached files, and Linux page cache are all doing the same job... and why every time you click "Free Up Memory," you're telling your computer to redo work it had already finished.

I also cover some situations where clearing memory IS legitimate. And guess what? You don't need a cleaner app for either of them.

🔗 TOOLS MENTIONED (all built into your OS, all free):
Task Manager (Windows): Ctrl+Shift+Esc
Activity Monitor (Mac): Cmd+Space, search it
'free -h' (Linux)
