In 2022, Open Field partnered with the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) to attract, retain, and support young adults from immigrant and refugee communities in Allegheny County to obtain their associate degree and transition into the job market or continue to earn their bachelor's degree. The club soccer team provides a level of accountability and community that is essential for the success of any student, especially foreign-born and first-generation college students. Study halls, tutoring, workplace site visits, and community events support learning, foster a sense of belonging, and create greater opportunities for civic engagement. This mini documentary shows how Open Field's college programstarted with an idea and became a reality with support from many community stakeholders over the course of one year.
