This guide explains why you might not be receiving message requests on Instagram and how to fix it. The most common reason is that your privacy settings are restricting who can send you requests.
To check and adjust your settings, open the Instagram app and go to your profile page by tapping your profile icon in the bottom right corner. Tap the three lines icon in the top right corner to open the menu. Scroll down and select "Messages and story replies." From there, tap on "Message requests." Here, you will see an option labeled "Who can send you message requests." If this is set to "No one," then no one will be able to send you message requests at all. If it is set to "Your followers on Instagram," then only people you follow back can send you requests. To ensure you can receive message requests from anyone, change this setting to "Everyone." You can also further customize your privacy by adjusting other options in this menu, such as who can add you to group chats. After making these changes, people should be able to send you message requests normally.
