Armando Reyna is a Matses people from the Peru/Brazil border. Shaba is his genuine name in its original language. His father was an authentic leader and one of the greatest indigenous warriors of the Matsés people.

Armando is the father of Dennis and like him, he is a great hunter. Both of them are part of Amazon Explorer team as our experts in tracking, jungle guidance and survival techniques.

He is an expert in tracking and knowing the behavior of wild animals, perfectly imitating the sound of wildlife. Armando is the discoverer of most of the clay licks found in the Matsés National Reserve.

Knowledgeable about Matsés culture and history, he is an expert in blowing tobacco (Nënë) and in the use of frog poison (Kambô or Sapo medicine). Armando has passed this knowledge on to his son Dennis, who is now a specialist.

Armando, who has been with Amazon Explorer for 15 years, he also became a defender and activist of endangered animals as the jaguar (Panthera onca).

Together with Hector and Dennis they explore new remote areas of the jungle.
