Milo M Turk (11/2/67 - 6/19/21) was a singer-songwriter who gained noteriety in 2008 when he appeared on American Idol (despite being older than their cutoff age) where he sang his original song "No Sex Allowed". The song was re-recorded shortly after his appearance, but in 2007 he self-released a 6-song-demo CD, which was lost until this summer. No Sex Allowed was originally written in 1996, and some songs on the WebVoyage copyright archive were written as far back as 1990, though all are lost. The last song he copyrighted was "Play It By Ear" in 2014 with songwriter Leslie Notis. In 2017, he appeared at a Beyond Vaudville live show alongside Suzanne Muldowney, who is known for her homemade costumes and love for Underdog.
Turk attended Rutgers University for graduate school in urban planning in 1989. In 1991, he developed an undisclosed mental illness and started having delusions of persecution and grandeur. He believed he was upsetting people in the entertainment industry, that he had done something to damage their careers. He graduated in 1996, but relapse in 1999 convinced him to switch careers, and he started working for Atlantic County’s Mental Health Alliance, helping people with employment, recreation and socializing through a self-help center in Pleasantville. That office closed in 2006, and he became a volunteer facilitator with a new support group for mental health patients sponsored by the Atlantic-Cape chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, or NAMI, and was paid a stipend to do public speaking around the state.
On June 19, 2021, Turk passed away at Shore Medical Center from complications due to diabetes.
