To protect against premature wear and lubricant breakdown, hub assemblies need to be sealed tightly to keep out water and other contaminants. MOOG engineers developed a new design that featured a molded grommet to protect ABS functionality, improved quad-lip inboard seal, improved three-lip primary outboard seal and a grime defense outboard seal. Before introducing the new part, it needed to be tested to ensure that the hub assembly could handle the harshest conditions. MOOG engineers developed a new test that involved heating up the hub and plunging it into cold water to ensure that there were no signs of water damage. The result?
