Giving this rain barrel a whiskey barrel makeover
I started collecting rain water from my deck roof for a backyard irrigation system with this rain barrel I made from a 50 gallon drum and pressure treated lumber. I'm using a transfer pump to power a sprinkler. The inspiration was to make a homemade whiskey barrel that won't rust. The rain barrel sits in a highly visible part of my yard so I wanted to give it an upgrade over a typical rainwater collection system.
