Remove security Torx screws without a special screwdriver using a normal flat-head screwdriver. This simple method works on many tamper-proof Torx screws with a centre pin.
How to remove security Torx screws without a security Torx screwdriver or special bit.
Security Torx screws, also known as tamper-proof Torx screws, have a small pin in the centre which prevents a normal Torx screwdriver from fitting. In this video I show you a simple method using an ordinary flat-head screwdriver.
These screws are commonly found on Shark vacuum cleaners, PlayStation PS4 and PS5 consoles, Xbox consoles and many other electrical appliances and devices.
The trick is finding a flat-head screwdriver that fits snugly across the screw and alongside the centre pin. On screws that aren’t excessively tight or secured with thread-locking compound, this can allow you to remove the screw without damaging it.
Always stop if the screwdriver begins to slip to avoid damaging the screw head.
