Porotech used a suite at CES to show various microLED devices. The companmy has a unique device architecture that uses their GaNPORO inmterface layer between a silicon substrate and GaN epi layer to smooth out the lattic mismatch, which causes defects and low efficiency. It also allows for the creation of red microLED in GaN - something very few can do.
Ay CES, they descibed the internal quantum efficiency (IQI) they can now achieve: red=15%; green=50%; blue=70%. This was acheieved with 3.5 micron square LED on a 4 micron pitch 0.26" 1280x720 device using an LCOS-designed backplane. The device also achieves 700K nits of output.
Porotech has also fabricated a 0.7" 1920x1080 device using a 9 micron pixel (10 micron pitch) to achieve around 3 million nits for the green and 700K nits for the blue and red (corrected vs. video).
Finally, they showed their Dynamic Pixel Tuning (DPT) demo that allows a single device to be driven to outpout, red, green, blue or white light - all based on different driving waveforms. That is a significant acheivem, ent. You can read more about this in a white paper at the link below.
